Places We Inspect
An important part of the work we do at LLHD involves inspecting commercial establishments to ensure they are incorporating safe and healthy practices. We consider these establishments to be our partners and work with them to prevent people they serve from getting sick or injured.
We conduct regular and complaint-based inspections of the places listed here – you can learn about the frequency of those inspections, what we look for and what owners/operators are required to do in each of the sections.
The following activities are performed by the District Sanitarians:
- Periodically inspect all establishments that prepare and serve food that is sold or given to the public.
- Review plans and conduct construction inspections for new food service establishments to assure compliance with the CT Public Code.
- Investigate all complaints associated with food service establishments.
- Identify and investigate all reports of foodborne illness (food poisoning).
