What is Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. This gas is drawn into your home through cracks or other openings in the foundation. The Surgeon General has warned that radon gas is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in The United States. Ledge Light Health District provides mitigation guidance and educational materials.

The State of Connecticut Department of Public Health maintains a list of individuals and organizations licensed to conduct radon inspection and abatement activities.
