How We Plan and Prepare
Ledge Light Health District provides Public Health Preparedness to address prevention, response, and recovery for its member towns, and municipalities in the Region 37 Mass Dispensing Area. It also works with the Southeastern Council of Governments Regional Emergency Management Committee, State Department of Public Health, and the State Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, Area 4, on preparedness activities.
Primary areas include disease surveillance and follow up, food-borne protection and follow up, risk communication, public education, isolation and quarantine, and mass dispensing. The staff works closely with other partners to assure health issues are coordinated and addressed in responding to all types of emergencies, natural or man-made.
Currently pandemic flu preparedness is occurring on the local, regional, and Statewide levels. To address pandemic flu, and related issues, Ledge Light Health district is developing plans to add to its Public Health Emergency Response Plan.
